Took a walk with Raquel and arrived just in time to catch this Chinese inspired performance in front of World Porters.
Ice skating next to Yokohama Bay with Raquel on New Years Eve. It was mighty cold and our skating skills a little rusty.
After Raquel’s 30 hour flight from Brazil winter break officially began. Two weeks without school and finally a chance to see Japan. Our adventures took us to the heart of Tokyo in Shinjuku, the countryside of Kamakura for Christmas and finally Yokohama where fireworks over the bay welcomed the New Year. Click the gallery above for many pics including dragons, strange food and plenty of holiday lights.
Home to thousands of Chinese when Japan’s port first opened to foreign trade, Yokohama Chukagai is now known as the place to go for all things Chinese. Walk past one of five massive gates that surround the city and you will be immediately transported to another country. The colorful lights, the smell of authentic food and people talking loudly in Chinese are all things that excite the senses. If you ever need to escape Japan for a while I highly recommend visiting. This visit made me feel like I was back in China and amidst all the sudden change I felt very comfortable here. Check out the gallery above to take a look.
